Help Us Save the Beagles

On two separate occasions in 2022, people from Animal Rising successfully entered MBR Acres and rescued a total of 23 beagle puppies from a life of torture in the animal testing industry. This was the first time since the 1990’s anyone had successfully freed dogs from the site, and it lit a flame for everyone fighting to stop animal testing.

Now, nearly four years later, the 20 beagle rescuers have all faced trials for their actions, accused of burglary, when most of us see a brave rescue of innocent lives. These five trials returned three guilty verdicts and two not guilty verdicts, 11 rescuers guilty and nine not guilty. But this is not the end, it’s just the beginning.

In March, we released an Open Letter to the Home Office calling for MBR Acres to close and safely rehome the dogs. Over 50 MPs, celebrities, and animal organisations signed, including Dame Joanna Lumley, Jonathan Ross OBE, Chris Packham MBE, and Zarah Sultana. We are building up to a second release with some even more high-profile names.

These trials and publicity, especially when juries found beagle rescuers not guilty, have paved the way for the complete shutdown of MBR Acres and safe rehoming of the dogs. It has taken years of work, and the time of dozens of people to get us this far. We are gearing up to take our campaign to the next level, and we need you on our team and supporting us to make it happen.
