Luna is a mother pig at Red Court Farm, near Ipswich. She is intelligent, social and fully aware. She has spent week after week in a metal crate so tight she cannot turn around. She gives birth there, feeds her piglets there, and watches them taken from her there. Now she is going into her fourth insemination cycle, back into the same crate.

We object.

Fewer than one in five people in the UK support farrowing crates. Farmers who've used them for decades are saying they can't be justified any more. The country is ready to move on. Our politicians are not.
